Hi, I'm Michael...
...and from a young age I’ve had a passion for both photography and San Francisco. As a child, my parents gave me their old Nikon EM 35mm film camera. That little vintage camera became my excuse to document everything — family gatherings, everyday life at home, and whatever scenes I could catch in the city.
In early 2016, after a long-term relationship ended, I started taking long walks around San Francisco after work to clear my head. I’d pick a random neighborhood and explore with no plan. Over time, those walks turned into a personal mission: I ended up walking every street in San Francisco, documenting the whole thing with my iPhone.
As a third-generation San Franciscan, I thought I already knew the city. Those walks proved otherwise. They showed me how much there still was to discover — and how deeply I cared about capturing it.
I started sharing my photos on Instagram, and that opened doors. Eventually I took a big risk: I put my non-photography career on pause and went all-in on the work, giving myself one year to see if it could stand on its own.
For three years, I embraced San Francisco photography full-time and said yes to every opportunity I could. In 2021, I returned to my non-photography career — but one thing didn’t change: my commitment to photographing this city whenever I can.
Thank you for being a part of the journey.
